Let's keep bagging the bag ban.
Dreary little socialists from OSPIRIG have collected 500 signatures, and will petitionEugene City Council to ban plastic grocery bags in the city limits.
FROM MY COLD DEAD HAND, LEFTY!
One of the bright-eyed cadres even trotted out that meme about the gigantic island of bags and bottles that' supposedly floating around the Pacific. It's now twice the size of Texas, apparently.
Don't you find it odd that nobody's ever seen this island? If it's really that big, shouldn't somebody try to develop it?

It is just an area of greater concentration of garbage. I read a story about a guy that went through the area and all he saw was patches of garbage when he looked, not one giant island. The question I have after seeing muscles cling to a basketball, was does the shelter afforded them increase the number of animals. Much like good fishing is to be found around oil platforms since it helps the fish avoid being eaten.
The "mayor" used that garbage island pitch here in Portland. O was at Raleigh Hills Freddie's the other day, and heard a lady query a staff member about the new bag ban. Loved the reply: "Oh, we're not in Portland, so you still have a choice."
